Idea Portfolio and Management

The portfolio of ideas is divided into four quadrants. These depend on the assessment criteria and axes defined in each case, which you define for yourself customize Can.

In the example shown below, three criteria were assessed:

  1. The Implementation costs (x-axis)
  2. that Innovation potential (y-axis)
  3. The implementation costs (circle size)


As a fourth clue, the points of an idea be used. These can be seen when you move the mouse over a circle. Here you can also see further details about an idea, e.g. how often an idea was evaluated and, based on this, its proposed classification.

  1. Upper left quadrant:
    Ideas with high innovative potential and low implementation costs, so-called "low-hanging fruits".
    Suggested Classification: Incremental to Progressive

  2. Upper right quadrant
    Ideas with a high innovative potential and a medium - high implementation effort. For example, new product or service ideas or possible new business models.
    Suggested Classification: Progressive to Radical

  3. Lower left quadrant
    Ideas with low innovative potential and low implementation costs.
    Suggested Classification: Idea Pool

  4. Lower right quadrant
    Ideas with low innovative potential and high implementation costs.
    Suggested classification: Not relevant
